Symmetria generates a harmonious energy that responds to Highpoint’s vision and the broader Maribyrnong context. It is a vibrant and playful, muscular sculpture that seeks to provide a visual metaphor for a flow of energy moving in different directions. It references the local Maribyrnong history of industrial innovation in pipe-making, as well as using the geometry symbolic of Maribyrnong’s historic pioneering women. A flow of energy is also reflected in the way that people and resources will flow around the sculpture in the shopping centre environment. Symmetria is a way-finder and meeting point for visitors; an encounter of playful contemplation.
